Jibber Jabber 009

Morning guys!

Just realised that once again its friday and i still havn't done a jibber jabber.

I know i keep talking about work, and im sure its boring you all half to death, but im literally finish off my dissertation as we speak. 10,000 words very nearly done. I need to sort out the contents and re-arrange some of the chapters, then finish my introduction and write my conclusion. so not much. With any luck i can get it printed and bound today ready to be handed in by monday night.  I also have another project needing to be done by monday @ 5pm though (it'll get done though!) so thats really why i've not been doing a great deal of blogging. (Sorry!)

Did you all check out that groupon offer i blogged about? it was such a good deal i thought i would share it with you all! i think it may have finished now though. But there are quite often some really good deals on there so always keep an eye out for them!

I think lots of the creatives at my uni will be going out on monday night. By monday, all the creative courses on my campus will have given in their dissertations, whereas some of the more academic lessons don't need to be given in till May. So as a big celebration im sure we'll be off out for a few drinks. Since the beginning of my 3rd year we all tend to go out as a class when we've handed in for a deadline, but its such a big day for everyone, im sure a lot of people are going to be celebrating. On top of that, i think me and Joe were talking about heading to Birmingham for the day so i can check out the Forever 21 store that im still yet to see. I bought some bits from their New York store when i was there last year, so i hope its similar.

I know ive been terrible at blogging recently, but i promise that i will be doing more from monday. I have some hair tutorials that i want to do, some creative bits and a couple of reviews of products ive recently been loving or finished up.

I also bought a couple of make-up bits the other day from love-makeup and mandmdirect. I bought a few stila pans for a baralicious (tacky word, i know!) price of 99p! couldnt believe my eyes. Im sure when they, and the other bits arrive, ill be showing them to you. You should check out the websites if you havn't already!

Right, thats all from me for now, but please stick with me for the next few days, then i'll back on track with my posting. Dont forget you can always folow me on twitter too! x

Jibber Jabber 008

(Dont know what face Joes trying to pull?)

We went to Joes over the weekend and celebrated his grampys 88th birthday with his dads side of the family. This was a quick snap we got before we left. I ended up getting my new glasses after all the chaos (hooray!) so now i can see properly again!

Not much planned for this week. Dissertation work really. Managed to get about 600 words written on the drive upto Joes on friday, so quite happy about that, then another 400 or so later that night. I seem to know more of what im doing now, which is good.

Off home on Wednesday for my sisters birthday. I had no idea what to get her, so shes got some dvds, traveling book and traveling journal heading her way. (Athough im sure she doesn't need the book - she's a travel agent)

Thinking of applying for jobs for when uni is finished. I've mentioned it before, but even though i (will have) a degree in graphic design, i dont want to do that when i finish. I like the idea of staying in design work, or visual work atl east, so im going to search the internet. For a job over the summer though, ill try and find anything really.

Oh! and for anyone that wants to know (or cares?) Im on series 4 of The (American) Office. I think i get about a disc a night watched. Pretty sad, but im addicted. I only have up to series 4 though, and i think there are 6 series, so i need to get my hands on them and i cant remember seeing them on amazon? Anyone know where to get them (UK region) merci beaucoup
Anyone have any good american sitcoms to watch when ive finished series 4?
(i havnt seen any of s4 of gossip girl, so thats on my list of things to pre order)

jibber Jabber 006

I feel like such a bad blogger!

Its been the most manic week. Lots of work. a major deadline and then a night of partying (in true student style!) I finally handed in my awards brief on Monday and i can't tell you all how happy i am. I don't feel like i have to worry about those ones anymore, thankfully! I realised the other day though, that i now have only about a month to finish my dissertation and do my (what was supposed to be) "year long" project (that started in September - that no-one has started!) such a bad student. After the hand in, my class (and some extras) had a good old knees up in celebration. It was so nice to be out with my class for a change.

Came back to Oxford today to spend some time with my mum and get my head down to work. Spending a couple of nights here then heading back to uni at the weekend i think. So nice to be home in my own room again. I managed to catch up with one of my friends earlier too. She's recently found out she's pregnant, im so excited and happy for her. I know she'll make a great mum.

Can't express how much im loving Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. Also, always seem to manage to miss glee on a monday. Yeah, im a gleek! I thought last weeks episode (duets) has been the best of this series so far, but i havnt seen this weeks. I heard something about schuh getting his body out? WHATTT?? Also, i keep missing Gossip Girl. Ive only seen one episode of this series. frustrating.

Joe told me yesterday that we're going on holiday to Italy in June. I can't explain how excited i am. I've never really been one to do all the touristy places, that's more my sisters thing. She loves traveling, and wants to see 30 counties by the time she's 30, but i've managed to beat her (seeing italy) with this one. We'll be flying into Milan and staying there the night, then heading to Lake Garda for a couple of nights, then spending the rest of the time in Venice. Im SO excited! We (me and my sister) were meant to go to Thailand back in September, but the date of getting back clashed with my first day back at uni, so i couldn't go. She still did though. I was gutted. Shes also going to Hawaii in September. Jealous much? :(

Just a quick reminder that my giveaway closes in just under a week, so go and enter it now. It is free after all!

Jibber Jabber 005

What a week! since starting jibber jabbers, i notice how quickly the week actually goes!

I got back from Centre Parcs on Monday afternoon. We all had such a good weekend. Spent most of the time in the pool - in the rapids, im covered in bruises from banging into the walls, other people and the floor. ha. Heres a cheeky (not the best) photo of me and my boyfriend while we were there..
You'll have to excuse the fishing sign and the republic bag! we were on out way to the sports centre!

I have 2 deadlines on Monday, both for industry awards, so if you see me rambling on about photoshop, uni work, or D&AD/YCN on twitter, that'll be why. I do apologise!

I put a giveaway up yesterday, i would love for you all to enter it!

I went home today, picked up my new battery for my mac. It seems to be working, so im happy about that. No more switching off when the wire accidently gets pulled out!

I don't know if i'll be doing many posts till Monday as i want to get my work done, so bear with me if i don't post much. (These ones are a pretty big deal!)

Hope you're all having a good week, any plans for the weekend?

Jibber Jabber 004

3 Posts in one day! Im on a roll!

Just a quick one today i suppose, i didn't manage to do my last jibber jabber till friday last week i don't think. Time really gets away from you sometimes doesn't it? I can't really say i've done much in that time, because i havn't. I have 2 projects on the go which ive taken a back seat on this past week, don't really know why, and my dissertation isn't going great at the moment. I promised myself fridays would be my "dissertation day" but somehow i blogged, played on my sega game that i got for xmas on joes ps3 and spent the rest of the time just visiting various websites. Im terrible with uni work, deadlines, anything like that! (Not a good quality for a soon-to-be-graduate!) -oh thinking about graduating, my uni doesn't actually graduate till NOVEMBER! we finish around may/june time. Is anyone else's like this? or is mine just being cheap or something?

As i'm sure most of you know its IMATS this weekend. I wont be going! :(. Its one of my housemates 21st birthday tomorrow, so 12 of us are off to Centre Parcs for the weekend. (The Longleat one!) If anyone has been there, let me know what's worth doing. Were all thinking paint-balling and quad-biking. Quite excited for it. We've got 2 cabins/houses/chalets? right next to each other, so it should be a laugh.
Oh, while on the subject of her birthday, it falls on Australia day. (yay!) so we're all going out dressed as Australian-themed things. I think the birthday girl is going as a crocodile, one of my other housemates is a fosters can, Joe's going as Steve Irwin and i'm going as Terri Irwin (though neither of us look like either of them!) and my other housemate is going to be a flamin galah Not sure about others. Im sure photos will follow! (For anyone wanting to know, the fosters can is being made from one of those pop-up wash bins that's just been painted. We plan on doing a night out dressed as cans. Lame, but we are students after all! ha.

Finally got around to ordering a new battery for my mac. I can't bear it when the charger gets unplugged and it all switches off. Its supposed to be coming from Portsmouth, but is being sent to my house in Oxford, so that will the require a drive home to get it. Fun fun!

I went to watch Black Swan last night with Joe. Ive read other bloggers opinions on it, and seriously, there are no words than can properly  describe it. Its beautiful, strange, weird, tense and twisted all in one. My advise it to see it, if not for the fact that Natalie Portman plays her character amazingly, then for the story line which is full of twists.

I also just wanted to quickly thank Charlene for the Blogger Award! :)

What have you all got planned this week? Is anyone going to IMATS? x

Jibber Jabber 003

Can't believe it's friday already!

Havn't really got up to much recently, so this will be a pretty short post. Today im trying to focus on my dissertation, although i do keep veering onto my e-mails, twitter and facebook occasionally!

My uni briefs are going well and my lecturer told me he liked my ideas, so i just need to get some photos taken and edited and i'm almost done! Can't really believe it. I know i keep banging on about the D&AD and YCN briefs, but if your into creative subjects and you havn't heard about them, its worth having a look! I'm finding it hard to get back into my old routine after being off for about a month. This semester i just need to get my head down and work work work!

I'm really sorry i havn't put my giveaway up yet and i keep rambling on about it. I'm hoping to get it up within the next week. I just want to make sure i have things you will all like. :)

Also, i will try my hardest to do some better posts over the weekend. I want to do some work, but i also need to go to town. I think i might buy some new clothes and a few other bits before i have to pay my rent! ha.

Lastly, It would have been one of my friend's 21st birthday today had she still have been here, so share a thought for everyone thats not about anymore <3

I hope you all have a nice weekend! Anything planned?

Jibber Jabber 002

After finishing Gavin and Stacey (which i undoubtedly talked about in my last Jibber Jabber) i've been watching Gossip Girl with my sister. Almost finished series 3 (still not done uni work as i'm sure you've worked out by now!) We have like 2 episodes left and don't own series 4 (yet!)
Still waiting for Amazon to deliver The american Office that i ordered over a week ago. I've lost all faith in them after something i ordered for my mum (for xmas) never arrived (still hasn't now!) Also waiting on other orders in the post. Is something going on with Royal Mail or are they being slow/on an xmas backlog? its so frustrating.

I go back to uni on Sunday. As much as im looking forward to seeing my friends and being back in my lovely house, i kind of just want to stay here. Im fed up of that student bubble of having no money and scrimping and saving left, right and centre. I know when its all over in May/June though i'll be mega sad.

I've been looking for graduate jobs recently so i spent last night trying to perfect my CV. I'm rubbish at things like that, especially seen as im applying for graduate jobs (or "proper jobs" as i think of them!), they don't want to know about retail and bar work do they?!

The people in the Apple shop in Milton Keynes shop weren't really too helpful. They kept me waiting quite a while and the guy that dealt with me basically just told me to buy a new one. The good thing is that they had been reduced to £101, but i'll still be buying a cheaper one online. Im not made of money!

This is something that is seriously annoying the hell out of me..My Blackberry. Its favourite thing to do is freeze. Especially after being charged (then loosing it all the next day) I've had it for just over a year now, and still have another year to go...great!

Have you all noticed the new layout and difference in photos? what do you think of it? I don't want the images to flood the pages too much! let me know if you think they're too big or if they look ok. I'm desperate to re-do the banner at the top again because its really annoying me, and im thinking of getting rid of the pink.

A few to follow this week: Emma, Lucy, Kirsty and Dan

Jibber Jabber 001

Hi guys, Im really sorry for not posting more recently.

After the rush of xmas and new year, i had planned on blogging, and tried my hardest last night, up until my laptop had a mind of its own again and then almost got thrown out of my window.
I have a macbook pro (the old style one) and i've had it for about 2 and a half years, and recently its all started bodging up. The click button doesn't work properly, (its as if something is stuck underneath it) the trackpad doesn't like me and decides to highlight everything when i try and move my finger, and when the power supply has been taken out for longer than 30 seconds, mighty mac just goes into meltdown and decides that's it. This has all only happened recently though. So this morning i decide to phone apple and when i look at the battery, look what i find..

i realise most of you probably don't care, but seriously, this was  is my battery. The man on the phone basically told me that i might have to buy a new one as it's not covered by applecare. So thats £140 down the drain (it would be less, but i have the 17") so my question to any of my faithful readers is has anyone else had a problem with their mac battery? if so, did anyone opt for a cheaper option? i've looked on e-bay and they're about £50. I've got to go to Milton Keynes on Sunday for an appointment with one of their genius people to see if there's any chance i can get a free one as the battery shouldn't do that. i'm not holding my breath.

Anyway, xmas and new year was good. i got a new camera, conical wand and some other bits and bobs. I havn't really bought too much in the sales. a new pair of pj bottoms, cheap xmas decs that caught my eye and the other day managed to pick up some of the accessorize makeup.

I've managed to watch all 3 series and the xmas special of Gavin and Stacey over the past 4/5 days, and i'm waiting for amazon to deliver the office so i can start on that. Unfortunately i never managed to watch all of friends, and with Joe not here, i cant carry on. Lame.

anyway, i hope you've all had a good week. Don't forget to keep a lookout for my competition which should *fingers crossed* be up within the next couple of weeks. :) Have a lovely weekend. xx

Jibber Jabber

How depressing is this weather? Anyone outside of the UK has probably read blogs on the depressingness (is that even a word?) of the weather here at the moment. Its constantly foggy, cold and dreary! In the Midlands it's not even snowing properly. We keep getting bits of.."rice" (as Joes housemate calls it) where its like all flakey, but not thick enough to settle. Its depressing. I want a snow fight!
I accidently left my coat at home this weekend and stupidly didnt realise till i got back to uni on Sunday evening, what an idiot! So after having abit of a go at Joe (not that it was his fault) we went to town today to do some crimbo shopping and  managed to grab a new one (not that i like it, but needs must!) I was hoping to pop back home again this weekend for my mums birthday, but i'm mega skint and have been given the chance to work at Cheltenham Racecourse (look online for jobs if you live in the Midlands) During gold cup week last year i worked for Tote (bookies) on the grounds and managed to make a decent ammount of wages + tips, but i havn;t worked for them since March and the computer things they use are mega confusing (you have to know each and every type of bet..its confusing for someone that don't have a clue!) but Joe worked for the carparkin company, its roughly the same money and id only be working in the morning, so ive decided to do that for a couple of days so i can make some serious moolah!

I bought some more fairy light when i went to the 99p shop the other day (oh how exciting is my life!?) so it would look more festive. It looks more cosy than festive, but i like it. So now im sat in my "cosy" freezing room thinking about better times. Mainly New York back this Easter

I dont think ive spoke much about New York in older posts? i dont know, but back in Easter i decided to take my work placement out in New York. (As you may know) i do a Graphic Design course at uni, and one of the modules is doing work experience/placement/interning at a design studio for a minimum of 2 weeks. When i was in college i managed to e-mail a design company called Vault49, they e-mailed me back (which i never expected) and a couple of years later when i was thinking about work placements, i went there. (i feel like i should stress that i paid for everything. Hotel, flights, food/drink...everything.)  [To anyone that now claims me to be "rich" please dont. I scrimped and saved like manic to be able to afford it] Anyway, when i was out there the ash cloud thing started and i was fucked to say the last. [i had no money, i almost got kicked out of the hotel for not being able to afford it and i literally ate nothing] I missed a good week or 2 of uni and ended up being in deep shit with my tutors for missing such "important times" of my course. But they were some amazing times, going to do a job i wanted in a place i never imagined. I was a completely different way of living, a whole new culture. (id been to NY previously, but only for about 4 days in 2006) The weather was amazing, and the view from the building was actually breathtaking (especially in the evening) but it made me realise how much New York is like London. There were always sirens going off and it was never "peaceful" and it was SOOOOO expensive. Anyway, no doubt people want to know more about that, if you do let me know and i can always do another post. I seem to be going off subject a little bit.

(Below is the view from the studio. It looked out onto Madison Square Park - the queue of people is for a milkshake stall called the "shake shack" and the building lit in the background is the Empire State building. The darker it got, the more amazing the view was.)

So yeah, back onto now. Im in the middle of series 3 of friends and i aim to watch all 10 series by xmas. I've seen them all before, a million times over, but its so nice to watch them all in order before you go to bed or when you wake up. At one point i was on the same episodes as E4. I love knowing what's happening or what's going to happen next. how sad is that!  I think Im going onto the American office next. Has anyone seen it? I can't even watch the english one because im not a fan of Gervais i'm afraid, he's too annoying! but its actually hilarious. I love Pam & Jim <3

Something else i need to quickly add is that i know i said i was thinking of doing a competition when i hit 50 subscribers, but its all gone up in a bit of a whirlwind and im so grateful to al the new followers, but i don't think ill be able to do it until after xmas with everything going on at the moment, and it would be nice to open it up internationally and to make it fair i'd want to leave it up for a decent amount of time. Anyway, ill keep you posted with more info on it in the new year! Sorry! :(

Sorry for rambling, I hope you've all had a good weekend!
-dont forget to follow me on twitter! xx
